A new chapter….

I sure have missed everyone!  I’ve taken some time to just get used to this new chapter in our lives, but feel like it’s now time to get rolling.  We’ve taken a 10 state road trip, added a new member of the family, reconnected with another, were home for Thanksgiving, moved down to Beaumont, Texas in December and now we are at Lake Livingston, Texas…..and Walt still hasn’t cut his hair!!

We’ve had a great time.  The adjustment has been amazingly easy.  I have found I really do have everything I need and don’t really miss all the “stuff”.

Included in the new chapter is a new grandson, Elin, (who is adorable) and reconnecting with another grandson, Ryan, in California who is now 11 years old (we talk to him almost every day!)  Getting to spend time with our sons in Oregon/Washington was great…spending more than just a couple days was a blessing and helps keep the bonds strong.  Having real time to read my bible everyday is a joy.  Having time to read other books is another joy.  Learning to play guitar is…grrr…challenging.   And spending undistracted time with my husband is the best!

We do miss everyone.  I miss my auction family, my “French Toast” girls and my kids from the school bus… but will be seeing you at home for the month of April.  I’ll fill you in on our future plans next time. Until then….New chapter

  1. How many a Saturday night I would seek out refuge where I knew I could find a little peace and quiet for a while. Because at home all there was was cussing and screaming and fighting with a alcoholic. So for many years I spent my Saturday night at Mary and Walts auction I didn’t know anyone or have any friends but just watching other people laugh and make jokes and get their items that they were bidding on makes
You smile. Sometimes I would be so broke that I couldn’t even buy a drink butI had to get away from this house and that was my
Refuge. I don’t know what to do with my Saturday nights now but I will save some money.lol
I’m so happy for you guys you get to do with the rest of your lives what most of us can only dream of. Love you Malessa 😍

  2. The winds of change may sail your ship to many places. I know now you are a phone call or a text away, but I miss the sparkle of your presence and the comforting comraderie of the banter that we share. I am glad you choose to sail your ship home to us when winds are favorable, and I hope when time comes to lower sails in permanent port, that you are not too far for a visit now and then. As for April, spring cannot come soon enough! I have been blessed in my life to have friends I hold dear…few and far between the years, and I cherish this friendship as much as any I have now or shall ever have. Be safe, and go with those winds where they take you, because they are the winds of God.

    • Gail. I think you’re the one who should be writing a blog….you always say things so beautifully! Yes, I too am looking forward to a visit. I’m looking forward to a warm diner on a chilly spring morning…hot coffee, piles of French toast with syrup, girlfriends laughing, sharing adventures and troubles, and laughing some more! See you soon!
